In 2007 the company re-located it’s business into
a newly restored 16thC barn a mile from Hawkshead
village in the Lake District, with a production
kitchen, warehousing and offices all under one
roof, set in the valley at the edge of Esthwaite
water and surrounded by the most picturesque
mountain scenery. The company were faced with
disaster in the early days when in 2001 the foot
and mouth epidemic almost stopped the business
before it started, in the event it turned the
business around and forced the couple to change
from being based in the café and concentrate on
the pickles and chutney making, the café closed in
2005 when the relish company became all consuming
and more space was needed. This area has now
become the showcase shop for the business,
offering free tastings and samples all day every
day.
